Elvis & Kresse

Elvis & Kresse

In 2005 Elvis & Kresse had a serendipitous encounter with the London Fire Brigade and when they learned that London's damaged decommissioned fire hoses were headed straight to a landfill, they mounted their rescue and set up Elvis & Kresse to save them. In the case of the hoses they first scrubbed away the soot and grease that built up over their long service, and afterwards they discovered an incredibly beautiful and robust textile. To honour the nature of this material and it's heroic line of work they focused on master craftsmanship with a timeless design. More materials soon followed as they wanted to intercept and rescue more items from landfills to turn them into luxury reclaimed products. The Burberry Foundation eventually partnered with them back in 2017 to tackle the ever growing problem of leather waste and now they have a five-year partnership that will see them receive 120 tonnes of leather off-cuts to combine with their other materials. The thinking is the same every time they start something, what can they do to provide value, change public perception, and respect these resources at the same time. Fifty percent of their profits get re-distributed to other projects and charities related to the repurposed materials they use such as the Fire Fighters Charity, Help for Heroes, WWF and more.
